The short version
ReferenceEdge and lyynx both manage customer references. The biggest difference is where they live. ReferenceEdge is installed inside Salesforce. lyynx is a standalone web platform that advocates and prospects sign in to directly.
Everything this page says about ReferenceEdge comes from the public Point of Reference website, checked on the date shown below the page.
What ReferenceEdge is built for
ReferenceEdge is made by Point of Reference. The company describes it as "a native app, installed into your Salesforce environment, not merely integrated into it with a plug-in". Its FAQ says the application and its data are hosted entirely on the Salesforce platform and that "there is no Point of Reference cloud".
According to the product page and FAQ, ReferenceEdge includes:
- Reference search with filters such as industry, product and region, plus keywords.
- Automated peer-to-peer request routing with real-time tracking.
- Nominations, so any ReferenceEdge user can put a customer forward as an advocate.
- Reference use tied to an opportunity automatically, with built-in KPIs such as revenue influenced.
- Customer rewards (points for completed activities) and user rewards for the internal team.
- Content shared through microsites that capture click activity.
- Requests started and managed from Salesforce or from Slack, and pre-built integrations that include Microsoft Teams, Salesforce Experience Cloud and CRM Analytics, Gainsight, Marketo and Eloqua.
Point of Reference also describes ReferenceEdgeAI, which extends ReferenceEdge workflows and data into AI assistants. Its FAQ says pricing is per user and does not publish figures.
What lyynx is built for
lyynx is the advocate-first customer reference management platform for B2B teams. You keep a reference library of customer companies and the advocates at each one. Prospects you invite sign in to a branded portal, browse the references shared with them and request a conversation.
The design priority is the advocate's side:
- Advocates set their own engagement limit per rolling 30 days. At capacity, new requests route to your team.
- Each reference has a privacy level and per-contact display controls.
- Advocates who log in own their profile fields and can revoke consent.
- Anyone can use the public listing check to see whether a vendor has listed them as a reference.
The honest gaps: lyynx is in a pre-launch pilot and has no published customer results. It has no native Salesforce integration. Its connectivity is a REST API and outgoing webhooks. Reference activity in lyynx is not attached to a CRM opportunity unless you build that link yourself through the API.

Choose lyynx if
- You are not on Salesforce, or you do not want your reference program to depend on CRM licenses.

- You want prospects to browse approved references themselves and request contact in a portal under your brand.
- You want published privacy and compliance documentation to share with a customer's legal team.
- You are comfortable joining a pilot.
What to ask in an evaluation
- Where does your sales team actually work? If it is Salesforce all day, ask how each tool appears on the opportunity record.
- Who needs a license or a login: requesters, account owners, advocates, prospects?
- Who sets an advocate's use limit, and what happens to a request when the limit is reached?
- Can an advocate see what is shown about them and withdraw consent on their own?
- What does a prospect see, and how is access granted and expired?
- How long does setup take, and what does your CRM administrator have to do?
- Ask both vendors for pricing in writing. No figures are quoted on this page.
