Reference program maturity assessment

This assessment asks 15 multiple-choice questions about how you source advocates, organize your library, match and fulfill requests, look after advocates and measure the program. You get an overall stage (Ad hoc, Developing or Structured), a score for each area and next steps for the areas that score lowest. No account is needed.

Pick the answer closest to how your program works today, not how you plan to run it. There are no right answers, and nothing is sent anywhere while you answer.

How this was calculated

Each answer scores 0 to 3, from least to most organized.

  • Area score = points earned in that area ÷ maximum possible in that area × 100.
  • Overall score = points earned across all questions ÷ maximum possible × 100.
  • Stage = the range your overall score falls in: 0 to 39 Ad hoc, 40 to 69 Developing, 70 to 100 Structured.
  • Next steps are shown for every area that scores under 70.

Frequently asked questions

What is a reference program maturity assessment?

It is a short questionnaire that describes how organized your customer reference program is today. It looks at the habits behind the program, such as how consent is recorded and how requests are tracked, and not at the tools you use.

How is the score calculated?

Each answer scores 0 to 3. An area score is the points you earned in that area divided by the maximum possible, times 100. The overall score uses all 15 answers the same way and places you in one of three stages.

What do the three stages mean?

Ad hoc means references are found deal by deal with little shared process. Developing means some pieces are in place but not applied consistently. Structured means the program has owners, a shared library, clear request rules and regular review.

Is the result a benchmark against other companies?

No. The score reflects only your own answers. It does not compare you with other companies or with an industry average.

Do I need to give my email to see my results?

No. Your stage, area scores and next steps appear on the page as soon as you finish. Email is only needed if you want the report sent to you as a PDF, and it is used only to send that report.

Can I share my results with my team?

Yes. Your answers are saved in the page address, so copying the link shares the same results. The link contains only your answers, never your email address.
